A phone that wants to compete with the best cameraphone in 2013 cannot lack an optical image stabilizer. I don't care about the 20mp, look at the Nokia 1020: it has 41mp but to deliver its super-sharp pictures it downsamples them to only 5mp...

It comes with image stabilizer

it's downsampling to either 3, 5, or 8MP. 8MP is good enough if you want larger photos.

It has a far small sensor to compete with the 1020 and the lack of Xenon flash is another let down.

well its too early
the sensor size has not been officially confirmed by sony
so sensor size is still officially unknown
excluding rumours....

Such a small camera on the top end corner, i bet the sensor is even smaller than Nokia N8's sensor, not to mention absence of xenon flash.

lack of a xenon flash is a big let down for a camera-centric phone

in my opinion It is NOT a competitor to the lumia 1020 coz it is not MEANT to compete with it. its more likely a competitor to the galaxy S4 zoom and the S4 and iP5 cameras. this is meant to be the best camera on an android phone, not a smartphone.

...and you obviously still don't understand the idea behind 41 mpx monstrosity..please, read a bit before commenting

A flash will not be required when you have a bigger sensor, as ther will be plenty of light falling even when at low light conditions... A Xenon Flash or any other flash it may be will make the picture look flat... there will be no difference between the object and the background and both will lie on the same line (No 3D effect)... That is why top end DSLR's do not come with a flash attached, since most photographers will not use them with a full frame sensor or they will use light reflectors...

True, but Honami has a quite small sensor. Because of that a xenon flash would have been welcomed.

why is it so hard for sony to put a xenon flash to this phone?...
17. tango_charlie posted on 1
Cause people are obsessed by slim phones.

bcoz sony dont want it to look same as 1020 bulky

The sexiest cameraphone! Come on Sony, bring it on!
12. neutralguy posted on 1
Is it me or it looks like the sensor might just be too small for 20 mp?

I think this time Sony will be good in their camera dept. as their phones are not that great shooters e.g. Xperia Z.
28. anleoflippy posted on 1
The Exmor RS in Xperia Z is good actually, it's the software that ruins it. Sony has addressed this in a update. The S4, Oppo Find 5 and the Lenovo K900 uses the same sensors.
